Position Summary

The Firestone Building Products, Beech Grove, Indiana plant is recruiting for production Team Lead Night Shfit.  The Beech Grove location operates 24/7, with Teammates scheduled on 12 hour shifts.  We offer immediate eligibility for medical insurance at the start of employment.

Responsibilities

  1. Successful production performance requires a strong focus. As a front line supervisor you carry more influence on production performance than any other member of the management team. One of your main focus points should be performance standards (i.e., scrap & waste, line speed, and machine utilization).
  •  It is the responsibility of the production Team Leader to have intimate knowledge of their line and to be able to troubleshoot problem areas. The Team Leader should be able to assess minor things that need to be fixed and should also be able to assist the maintenance teammate in repairing things.
  • The production Team Leader will be accountable to schedule teammates for off days such as vacation, birthday holidays, court appearance, and etceteras. A qualified teammate must be scheduled to fill the vacancy on the line so as not to negatively impact production.
  • As a production Team Leader you will also be accountable to know where your teammates are at all times.
  • A comprehensive list should be made out prior to maintenance day to make the most efficient use of the manpower you have available to you.
  • As a Team Leader you should have full knowledge of how a Production Tech teammate spends their entire day. You should assign projects and follow up that these things are being completed.
  • Accountability for “radio communication” falls directly on the Team Leader. You should constantly be aware of the communication that goes on during your shift. If any teammate is using inappropriate language or displaying a negative attitude that detracts from your team building efforts you are responsible to counsel this teammate in the proper manner.
  • As part of a larger team you are responsible for consistent application of all plant policies. We must ensure that we are very consistent on all policies, for all teammates, on all shifts, up to and including team leader

 Quality Tasks

  • Monitor our finished products to be first quality.
  • Be able to understand finished product specifications and ensure the products are first quality and to specifications.
  • Responsible for identifying quality problems and take actions to prevent non-conformance of products. Have the initiative to solve problems and take action to prevent recurrence of the problem.
  • Be able to maintain Plants performance standards such as seconds, scrap, waste, line speed, and machine utilization.

 Perform basic mechanical procedures

      •  Knowledge and use of various hand and power tools.
  • Should be able to follow detailed instructions from a maintenance associate or Team Leader to correct problems.
  • Assist maintenance in changing out bearings.
  • Assist maintenance in changing out sprockets, sheaves, chains, and belts.
  • Minor mechanical adjustments.

 Perform basis hydraulic and pneumatic procedures

      •  Replace broken lines.
      • Assist maintenance in replacing cylinders.
      • Assist maintenance in replacing solenoid valves.
      • Adjust speed controls.

Qualifications

Previous Supervisor/Lead experience required 

High School Diploma

Able to read, write and speak English.

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Possess forklift experience, preferred.

Possess manufacturing experience, preferably in chemical processing operation.

 

Physical Requirements

Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively.

Able to stand, sit, and/or walk a majority of the shift.
