Position Summary

Maintain production equipment, building equipment and all associated equipment that will allow the plant to operate at the expected capacity while meeting all safety and policy measures within specifications.


The below listed duties are minimum requirements. The tasks are not all inclusive. Maintenance positions require too may tasks on any given day that all cannot be addressed in these statements. If the candidate cannot perform any of the below duties at time of hire, it is understood that they will be trained to perform the requirements as spelled out below. It is also expected that once trained the candidate must consistently demonstrate these requirements.

  • Ability to understand and demonstrate safe workplace practices.
  • Participate in all required workplace safety training programs.
  • Perform monthly updates of Safety IIP.
  • Adhere to facility 5S policies, especially in the maintenance areas of the plant.
  • Ability to complete specific assigned tasks within specified time frame that meets or exceeds quality of work expectations.
  • Understand how quality of maintenance work affects quality of produced product and reliability of equipment.
  • Work any shift as needed.
  • Participate in the on-call program (when one is active)
  • Work overtime to include weekends and holidays when required.
  • Daily accurate work order update/entry to reflect hours worked in Maintenance Connection program.
  • Understand and use basic math for measurement, figuring ratios, weight, speed, angles, volumes, areas, etc.
  • Understand basic components of prints, including scales symbols and dimensions.
  • Must be able to work standing for long periods of time and lift 50 lbs. if necessary.
  • Inspect and properly operate lift trucks.
  • Work under the direction of a lead mechanic or the maintenance supervisor.
  • Properly select and install various types of fasteners (bolts, nuts, screws, anchors, pop rivets, latches).
  • Recognize handle and dispense various types of lubricants.
  • Use hoists, come-a-longs, jacks and wenches to lift or move equipment.
  • Calculate pipe length, measure, cut and thread pipe.
  • Recognize and install various, valves and fittings.
  • Repair or replace parts of power transmission components such as roller chain and attachments, sprockets, belts, pulleys, bearings, sleeves, gears and couplings.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps, blowers and gearboxes.
  • Troubleshooting and repair common problems with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Basic understanding of electricity such as identifying difference between AC and DC current, single and three phase systems, voltage, current, and resistance.
  • Basic understanding of PLC operation and troubleshooting.
  • Understand proper and safe use of multi-meters and other test equipment.
  • Change blades on edge trim equipment and rotating granulators.
  • Assemble simple mechanical equipment from drawings.
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as grinders, saws, drill press and other hand held power tools.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance on all equipment listed on PM program in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Must have knowledge of environmental policies and work instructions related to job.
  • Perform waste disposal per work instructions.
  • Perform measurements using tools and or test instruments such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
  • Basic welding skills and using torch equipment when needed.
  • Troubleshoot control circuitry and correct.
  • Basic knowledge of facility in the areas of fire protection, storm warning, water supply, electricity, and phone/wireless system.
  • Prompt notification of major downtime events to immediate supervisor or other designated person.


  • 3 + years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or post high school education in maintenance related field(s).


Regular and consistent attendance is expected. Due to the importance of this position to the operation of this facility, attendance problems will be strictly enforced in accordance with company policy. Attendance problems will result in a candidate not being able to advance to the next multi-craft level even if all other requirements are met.
