    Position Summary

    Firestone Building Products Company, a leading manufacturer and marketer of commercial roofing systems, is seeking a qualified candidate to become a Maintenance Technician-A at our Beech Grove, Indieana Asphalt Manufacturing facility.  This is a 2nd shift position Monday through Friday, hourly non-exempt at $28.54 per hour, in additional we pay $1.00 per hour 2nd shift differential.  Firestone offers immediate medical benefit eligibility.

     

    We are looking for a qualified candidate to perform duties associated with the installation, repair, trouble shooting, modification and preventative maintenance of electrical, PLC and drives, hydraulic and pneumatic driven production equipment with an emphasis on electrical and PLC systems.

    Responsibilities

    Electrical

    • Reset Motor Starters
    • Check Fuses and Replace
    • Reset Circuit Breakers
    • Change small C-face motors
    • Direct replacement of limit switches, prox’s, switches and photo eyes.
    • Direct replacement of socket style relays with senior direction.
    • Replace motor starter heaters
    • Reverse 3 phase motor direction.
    • Replace motor starters
    • Replace circuit breakers
    • Wiring of 3 Ph motors
    • Basic troubleshooting of minor electrical systems. (Start Stop, Switches)
    • Run conduit and pull wire
    • Install motors of all types and sizes.
    • Ability to read I/O on PLC’s to troubleshoot equipment.
    • Knowledge of dry contact devices such as pressure and temperature switches.

     Welding

    • Ability to safely use arc welder and cutting torch
    • Emergency simple welding and cutting.
    • Fabrication of structural steel type welding and cutting.

    Power Transmission

    • Direct replacement of sheaves, V-belts, chains and sprockets and other common power transmission components.
    • Direct replacement of small gearbox’s.
    • Direct replacement of couplings.
    • Direct replacement of housed bearings.
    • Correct alignment and tensioning of components.
    • Replacement of all types of gearbox’s including alignment.
    • Alignment of couplings using straight edge method.

    Hydraulic

    • Change hoses that have burst.
    • Direct replacement of cylinders.
    • Replacement of components of a general hydraulic system.
    • Adjustment of flow controls and pressures.
    • Setting of speed pot’s on proportional systems.
    • Basic troubleshooting and understanding of piping and component pressure ratings.

    Pneumatic

    • Change hoses that have burst.
    • Direct replacement of cylinders.
    • Replacement of components of a general pneumatic system.
    • Adjustment of flow controls and pressures.
    • Basic troubleshooting and understanding of piping and components.

    Pumps, End Suction

    • Direct replacement of small pumps.
    • Replace all types of pumps, seal replacement.

     Pumps, Viking / Siefer

    • Replace couplings, motor alignment

     Gas Fired Equipment

    • Basic understanding of system.
    • Replacement of fire eyes, pressure switches, blowers, valves, etc.

     DC Drives

    • Reset faults, change fuses
    • Basic understanding of the DC drives on the roofing lines and their operation.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Good working knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pump repair, welding & fabrication
    • Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
    • Requires a good working knowledge of 480/three phase electrical circuits, PLC & Drive experience a plus
    • High mechanical aptitude and varied experience, preferably in an industrial and chemical processing operation, a plus
    • Desire to always perform high quality work, not satisfied with "it's good enough"
    • 5 Years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or equivalent environment or a combination of relevant education and experience preferred
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
