    Position Summary

    The Product Quality Technician provides a support function subordinate to the Plant Chemist. This includes making lab batches, performing testing and supporting other specified aspects of raw material evaluations and or quality projects.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Responsibilities of the role-

    • Adhere to the environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures, and suggests continuous improvement ideas for safety and health.
    • Provide Project Support for the Sr. Plant Chemist. This will include compounding accurate formulations, performing performance tests, monitoring and guiding manufacturing during product manufacturing and other duties as requested.
    • Aids in developing analysis methods for products as required. This can include ladder studies, weathering studies, field application studies, etc.
    • Provide training to quality, production, and research personnel as requested.
    • As requested, conduct custom color matching and individual batch tinting to match standards.
    • Prepare custom samples and small production batches.
    • Maintain a notebook. Accurately document work done and results obtained.
    • Suggest improvement opportunities in formulas, testing or manufacturing processes.
    • Maintains a clean, organized work area, and disposes of retains and waste as needed.
    • Ability to work required shift, and to modify schedule as requested.
    • Backfill the QC lab activities when unusual circumstances arise.
    • Ability to work overtime during high volume months

     

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

     

    • Bachelors required.
    • Basic knowledge of chemistry and lab procedures required.
    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent attention to detail with emphasis on observation, accuracy and quality.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, professional environment. A self-starter with efficient time management abilities.   Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
    • Effective written/oral communication skills are a must.
    • Must have a good eye for color
