    Position Summary

    Supervises and coordinates activities of hourly production teammates by performing duties relating to production, quality, team member relations and administration, safety, scheduling and cost control. This is a front line Supervisor Day Shift position. 

    Responsibilities

    Production – 40%

    • Consults with managers regarding scheduling or reassigning production teammates on line with the approved production schedule, chemical conditions, operation of equipment, new or revised formulations, special manufacturing orders, experimental stock items, etc.
    • Checks material supply, consults with other departments, relative to chemical conditions, defective materials, schedules, material shortages due to non-delivery, etc.
    • Inspects all equipment to ensure continuous and safe operation.
    • Determines what action is necessary with respect to mechanical and electrical breakdowns. Consults with production manager, plant engineering and maintenance and scheduling.
    • Checks output of production lines and individual teammates, controls personal time of teammates (breaks/lunches) and takes action necessary to ensure that expected production is achieved.

    Personnel Administration – 15%

    • Instructs and guides new employees and exercises necessary supervision over experienced teammates.
    • Act as a facilitator in motivating teams and their cohesive results.
    • Prepares reports on all near misses and injuries.
    • Assigns work to teammates in order to meet scheduled production requirements, arranges for individuals to work overtime when necessary and balances available hours.
    • Reviews teammate's performance and makes suggestions for improvement.
    • Monitors and trains production teammates in the correct performance of their assignments.
    • Maintains good communications with teammates and management.
    • Obtains answers to questions for teammates on company benefits and company policies relative to wages, hours, vacations, employment conditions, etc. or guide them to appropriate party for help.
    • Approves time through Krono Timekeeping System.

    Quality – 20%

    • Reviews new and revised specification changes prior to their distribution to production workers.
    • Checks work ability and physical characteristics of materials in process to detect off standard conditions, requesting technical assistance when necessary.
    • Check for poor workmanship in all operations and take necessary corrective steps.

     

    Cost – 10%

    • Monitors all operations to detect waste in man or machine time and minimize waste and defective loss.
    • Analyzes machine schedules and teammate assignments to obtain maximum efficiency and productivity.
    • Works with production manager, plant engineering and maintenance with respect to changes or alterations of equipment or processes.
    • Verifies inventory against shop floor reporting systems. Ensure that work in process is accurately reported and controlled to system levels.

    Safety and Housekeeping – 15%

    • Reports accidents and unsafe work conditions or actions immediately following accident investigation.
    • Holds daily safety meetings.
    • Helps maintain cleanliness and organization in production areas.
    • Does audits of departments IIP's.
    • Participates in safety meetings and daily production meetings.
    • Instructs teammates in proper safety and housekeeping methods.
    • Takes initiative in providing for the safety of teammates through observation and checking of equipment for proper maintenance of guards, safety devices, etc.

     

    Qualifications

    • Able to work 12 hour Dayshift.

    Minimum:

    • 5 Years production experience in manufacturing and supervisory experience
    • High School diploma or GED

    Preferred:

    • Associates Degree OR Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of cumulative production experience
    • 3 years as Lead person in a manufacturing environment
